What if I have already had cancer?
If you have been treatment free more than 5 years and less than 10 years you can apply for Plan I without the Cancer Diagnosis Benefit Rider, subject to a physician’s report.
If you have been treatment free for 10 years or more you can apply for Plan I, II, III without the Cancer Diagnosis Benefit Rider.
Applicants with a history of the following cancers are not insurable regardless of the date of diagnosis:
- Lung or bronchi
 - Pancreatic
 - Bone marrow
 - Liver sarcoma
 - Kaposi’s sarcoma
 - Lymphoma
 - Stage III and IV melanoma
 - Brain or central nervous system
 - Giant cell carcinoma
 - Wilms' tumor
 - Carcinoma-in-situ
 - Squamous or basal cell skin cancer
 
How do I know which plan to take?
This is a personal choice decided by taking your family history into account and knowing that nobody can predict what the future holds regardless of family history.
Do I get money back each year even if I never get cancer?
Yes, the cancer plan has a Wellness Benefit. Each person on the policy receives $75 per calendar year for taking the following Preventive Cancer Screening Tests:
- Mammography
 - Thermography
 - Colonoscopy
 - CEA (blood test for colon cancer)
 - Pap smear
 - Hemocult stool analysis
 - PSA (blood test for prostate cancer)
 - CA125 (blood test for ovarian cancer)
 - Flexible sigmoidoscopy
 - Chest X-ray
 
And any diagnostic procedure that can lead to the positive diagnosis of cancer.
