Frequently Asked Questions
Can I take my life insurance with me?
Yes.
Can I apply for coverage over the guarantee issue amounts for me and/or my family?
You can apply for over the guarantee issue for both yourself and your spouse, however medical underwriting will be required. If you or your spouse apply for over the guarantee issue an Evidence of Insurability will be required for medical underwriting to make the determination if approval will be granted. Please note that $10,000 is the maximum coverage amount allowed for any dependent children.
Can I cover my spouse and children?
You can elect coverage for your spouse and/or child(ren), in either case, amounts cannot exceed employee coverage.
For spouse coverage, benefit amounts can be up to 100% of the employee benefit amount. Your spouse can keep coverage if you keep yours, no matter where (or if) you work.
For child(ren), coverage is available for eligible dependents, which may include stepchildren, legally adopted children and grandchildren. Benefit amounts can be selected in increments of $2,000 up to $10,000. Coverage ends when employee policy ends or when children turn 19 (or 26 if full-time students). At the time, children can purchase an individual policy, not to exceed the original children’s benefit amount.
